Grant Thornton grows Office of Strategy Management leadership team

Jeanette Gorgas and David Boland join as chief strategy officer and chief knowledge officer; David Porges joins as community engagement director

CHICAGO--()--Grant Thornton LLP is growing its Office of Strategy Management leadership team with the additions of Jeanette Gorgas, David Boland and David Porges, who join as chief strategy officer, chief knowledge officer and community engagement director, respectively. Gorgas is based in the firm’s New York office, Boland is based in the Dallas office and Porges is based in the Los Angeles office.

“Jeanette, David and David are widely respected and highly talented leaders who bring key insight to Grant Thornton’s strategy, knowledge management and corporate social responsibility practices,” said J. Michael McGuire, chief executive officer of Grant Thornton. “They will work in close collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team to focus on strategy development and execution as we continue to build a healthy, high-performance culture.”

Gorgas will spearhead the design, alignment and implementation of the firm’s strategy. She will focus on accelerating firm performance through cohesive strategy planning and execution, knowledge management and the development of critical, results-driving capabilities.

Most recently, Gorgas led JLG Advisors LLC, an integration and human capital consulting firm, specializing in strategic planning and implementation, organizational effectiveness, change management and leadership development. Previously, she served as senior associate dean for the master’s in business administration program at Yale University. She also held management roles at Deutsche Bank AG, Bank of America Corp. and, most recently, Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.

Gorgas received a master’s degree in management from London School of Economics and won an achievement award for her research, “Inertia in Strategy Implementation.” She received a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and attended Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.

Boland will lead the strategy and continued development of the firm’s formalized knowledge management organization. He will be responsible for leading the knowledge management team and driving knowledge sharing within the firm.

Most recently, Boland served as the global head of knowledge management at North Highland Co. Previously, he held numerous leadership roles at Deloitte LLP, including deputy chief knowledge officer and director of operations, where he oversaw all operational aspects of the U.S. knowledge services team. In addition, Boland launched social media and collaboration capabilities, and served as the knowledge management lead for firm acquisitions. He also developed and implemented a multi-year expansion of overseas operations to multiple international locations, and led the onboarding of several hundred onshore professionals.

Boland is a certified public accountant in Illinois. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri.

Porges will lead the firm’s community outreach and corporate social responsibility programs. He will be responsible for developing the firm’s community engagement strategy and aligning it with the firm’s mission.

Most recently, Porges served as national director of corporate citizenship at Deloitte, where he helped build the firm’s community engagement program. Previously, he served as vice president of public affairs and corporate communications for Coast Federal Bank FSB, where he was responsible for executive and employee communications, government relations and community involvement.

Porges serves as a state commissioner for CaliforniaVolunteers, which reports to the Office of the Governor of California. He received a bachelor’s degree in communications from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
