GREAT NECK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--North Shore-LIJ Health System and Empire BlueCross BlueShield today announced an Accountable Care arrangement that will cover more than 33,000 commercial and Medicare Advantage members in a value-based collaboration.
Under the agreement, North Shore-LIJ will coordinate care through North Shore-LIJ Premium, an integrated network of over 5,500 primary care and specialty physicians as well as other healthcare professionals in the New York metropolitan area, by creating accessible, efficient, team-based, integrated care focused on the individual needs of eligible Empire’s members.
“This new collaboration between North Shore-LIJ and Empire will further accelerate our efforts to manage population health and increase our value-based contracting,” said Howard Gold, executive vice president of managed care and business development at North Shore-LIJ. “This framework allows us to focus on objective patient outcomes, better coordinate care and align quality with payment incentives.”
“The North Shore-LIJ Clinical Integration Network IPA, the health system’s Premium Network, and North Shore-LIJ Care Solutions, the health system’s care management enterprise, are the engines that will engage physicians to manage high-risk patients covered under this program,” Mr. Gold said.
