Pearson Fuels Announces Agreements with Sacramento Metro Stations to Sell E85 Fuel

Five Stations’ Grand Opening Feature E85 Fuel for Only 85 cents from 8 AM to 5 PM on Wednesday, August 12

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--()--Pearson Fuels is announcing its new supply agreements with five additional gas stations in and around the Sacramento metropolitan area. On Wednesday, August 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pearson and their retail station partners will offer E85 ethanol flex fuel for 85 cents per gallon.

The event is intended to introduce more members of the public to a fuel that many of their vehicles will burn. The event will be held at the following locations:

Shell 5103 Fair Oaks Blvd., Carmichael, CA 95608

Shell 730 29th Street. Sacramento, CA 95816

Shell 3721 Truxel Road, Sacramento, CA 95834

Shell 800 Ikea Court West Sacramento, CA 95691

Oliver Gas 1009 Oliver Road Fairfield, CA 94534

More details and addresses of each site can be found on Pearson Fuel’s website at www.pearsonfuels.com.

There are approximately 1 million vehicles on the road in California that are capable of using blends of ethanol as high as 85 percent. These vehicles are referred to as Flex Fuel vehicles and can be identified by a “Flex Fuel” nameplate on the car or by labels in the gas filler area. Many of these vehicles also have yellow gas caps for easy identification.

Pearson Fuels General Manager Mike Lewis states, “We are very proud to make this announcement. These five locations in Sacramento, West Sacramento and Fairfield are owned by some of the most progressive fuel station owners in the state. These stations were selling E85 before we made our agreement with them. We are happy to be working with them and helping to recognize and promote their progressive decision to offer something most stations do not. We encourage the public to vote with their dollars to improve the environment and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.”

Lewis added, “E85 burns much cleaner than gasoline and add to that the fact that it is renewable, domestically produced and currently selling at substantial discounts to gasoline. Literally thousands of E85 compatible flex-fuel vehicles drive by and do business at these stations every week and now they have a convenient location to save money and reduce their tailpipe emissions with this inexpensive, clean, renewable fuel.”

In the United States, the ethanol used in E85 continues to be produced primarily from corn. However, there have been major technological improvements that have contributed to more advanced production plants and a more advanced fuel made from agricultural waste products, and other non-food sources are coming on line soon.

Tooley Oil Company Vice President David Tooley said, “We have sold E85 Flex Fuel in a few of our stations for several years. The customers seem very happy to be saving money and helping the environment out too. We are very glad to be working with Pearson Fuels. They have been doing it longer than anyone in the state, and we have been happy with their service and their support. I would encourage the public to come and try E85 if they have a Flex Fuel vehicle and have not tried it yet. Like Pearson we are trying to take away all the excuses to at least give it a try.”

Another station owner, Matt Hussain of Oliver Gas in Fairfield, said, “When people try it they usually come back. It’s less expensive than regular gas and keeps the environment clean. People should try it at least once if they have a Flex Fuel vehicle. For this one day at least you can fill most cars and trucks up for less than $20.00. How can you beat that?”

Pearson Fuels has grown from one alternative fuel station opened in San Diego in 2003 to become California’s largest independently owned ethanol distributor. It specializes in the development of alternative fuel infrastructure and distributing alternative fuels.
