MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Polaris® Industries Inc. (NYSE:PII), the leading manufacturer of off-road vehicles, today announced one of the first vehicles resulting from Polaris’ acquisition from Brammo Inc., the RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit® Camo.
A first in the off-road industry, the RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit Camo offers more than three times the total battery lifespan of traditional acid batteries and more than twice the range on one charge (up to 50 miles*) to ensure the vehicle spends more time in use. Due to having fewer, lighter weight Lithium-Ion Batteries, the vehicle is 462 lbs./210 kg lighter and accelerates faster than Polaris’ lead-acid battery option.
To complement the Lithium-Ion battery technology, the pure electric RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit Camo features a refined electrical architecture and a single 48-volt, high-efficiency, AC-induction motor. The driver can select from three modes of operation: High for everyday use, Low for hard work and Max Range for greatest distance. The new system also features a Battery Management Controller which continuously monitors battery usage for a more accurate representation of battery life. A Vehicle Control Module (VCM) allows for a new digital gauge with speedometer and improved accessory integration. Accessories such as the Electronic Power Steering kit and Polaris Interactive Digital Display are now easier to install. The vehicle also is equipped with on-vehicle diagnostics for easier servicing.
Along with offering the latest in battery technology, the RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit Camo offers hardest working features such as 10 gal./37.8 L of in-cab storage, 1500 lbs./680 kg of towing capacity, a 500 lb./22.7 kg gas-assist rear dump box and a 1000 lb./453.6 kg total payload to carry what you need and haul heavy loads. The vehicle also is equipped with Polaris’ exclusive On-Demand True All-Wheel Drive to provide the traction needed to get the job done. When selected, the one-wheel drive VersaTrac Turf Mode plus high-pressure, 20 psi, 25 in/63.5 cm Carlisle turf-friendly tires ensure a lighter footprint on lawns and other terrain.
The RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit Camo’s smoothest riding features such as its 10 in/25.4 cm of ground clearance, MacPherson strut front suspension and Independent Rear Suspension with 9 in/22.9 cm of travel are the reason Polaris’ electric off-road vehicles provide the best ride on the trail, the hunt or the jobsite. An ideal seat height makes it easy for driver and passenger to get in and out of the vehicle, while smooth shifting makes for easy operation of the vehicle. A 58 in/147.3 cm width allows RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit Camo to fit in the bed of most pick-up trucks for hassle-free transport. Plus, no gas and no emissions make this vehicle the epitome of clean, quiet and efficient power.
Whether on the hunt or on the job, accessories make the job easier. The RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit Camo features the revolutionary, exclusive Pro-Fit and Lock & Ride® accessory integration system that makes RANGER unique. The frame of the vehicle features profile tubing, providing a 360-degree sealing surface for cab components. Windshields, roofs, doors and rear panels follow the shape of the vehicle, locking directly into the cab frame’s precision contour. For easy installation of many of the cab components and also cargo boxes and tool racks, the vehicle also features Polaris’ exclusive Lock & Ride™ technology for quick and simple on and off, making the RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit Camo an incredibly versatile work partner. To reduce charge time and get back on the job or hunt, Polaris also offers a quick charger for install. And with more than 20 Lock & Ride® camo and hunt accessories to choose from, this stealth-quiet RANGER can be equipped to sneak up on any game.
The RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit Camo joins the RANGER EV in Polaris’ Electric Off-Road Vehicle line-up for 2016 and will be available in dealerships in September, 2015.
