MINNEAPOLIS & TRUMBULL, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HPOne, one of the nation’s leading private health care exchanges for retirees and individuals, has launched the ClearChoice Exchange, a new health care exchange solution created for employers seeking to manage retiree health care costs while enhancing the flexibility, choice and value provided to their retirees.
The ClearChoice Exchange provides a full-service solution for employers looking to transition from a traditional group insurance plan for retirees to a defined contribution approach. The ClearChoice Exchange offers:
- plans from multiple carriers for pre-65 retirees;
- individual Medicare Advantage plans from multiple carriers;
- and the UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan.
“Employers are increasingly choosing defined contribution programs for their retirees because they help reduce overall spending on health insurance while offering retirees more choice in carriers and plan designs,” said Bill Stapleton, founder and CEO of HPOne. “Often, though, retirees may perceive the transition from a defined benefit program as daunting. ClearChoice Exchange provides retirees the best of both worlds – they can remain in a group plan if that’s most comfortable for them, or they can explore the individual plan options available in the open market to identify a plan that best meets their needs. The choice is theirs.”
The UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage PPO plan is a national coordinated care plan that covers all Original Medicare benefits as well as additional benefits and services that help people maintain their health and well-being, such as annual physicals, fitness programs and access to trusted health care professionals 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through a NurseLine program. Benefits are fully customizable, making it possible to mirror the employer’s current group plan.
UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage PPO participants can access care from a broad network of approximately 500,000 care providers. Unlike other types of PPO plans, the plan provides the same level of benefits both in network and out of network, giving retirees maximum flexibility in their choice of doctors and hospitals.* Members are covered for care provided by any health care provider who participates in Medicare without having to pay additional out-of-pocket costs and can also see specialists without a referral.
The group plan is available nationwide to all eligible retirees at a standard premium amount, regardless of their age, gender or health status, meaning retirees who elect an individual plan through the multi-carrier exchange may subsequently transition to the UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage PPO plan without being medically underwritten.
Approximately 100 employers currently offer the UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage PPO plan to their retirees, and approximately 600,000 people participate in this program.*
“The UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage PPO plan offers affordability, comprehensive benefits and flexibility in access to care providers, making it a popular choice for both employers and retirees,” said Forrest Burke, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Retiree Solutions. “We’re looking forward to supporting the health and well-being needs of seniors shopping on the ClearChoice Exchange.”
