M4 instances deliver significant processing power with custom 2.4 GHz Intel® Xeon® E5-2676 v3 Haswell processors, offer dedicated bandwidth to Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS), and provide Enhanced Networking for higher packet per second (PPS) performance, lower network jitter, and lower network latencies. M4 with Enhanced Networking delivers up to 4 times the packet rate of instances without Enhanced Networking, while ensuring consistent latency, even when under high network IO. Within Placement Groups, Enhanced Networking reduces average latencies between instances by 50 percent or more. M4 instances are well-suited for a wide variety of applications including relational and in-memory databases, gaming servers, caching fleets, batch processing, and business applications like SAP and Microsoft SharePoint. Customers can launch M4 instances using the AWS Management Console, AWS Command Line Interface (CLI), AWS SDKs, and third-party libraries. M4 is available in five different instance sizes ranging from 2 virtual CPUs (vCPUs) with 8 GB of memory (m4.large) to 40 vCPUs and 160 GB of memory (m4.10xlarge), and are available in the US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), US West (Northern California), EU (Ireland), EU West (Germany), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), and Asia Pacific (Sydney) regions.
