ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thermo Fisher Scientific recognized winners of the 2015 Thermo Scientific Tandem Mass Tag (TMT) Research Award at a ceremony held in conjunction with this year’s American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) conference. Now in its second year, the research competition selects four scientists from a pool of international applicants based on the innovation and potential impact of their work in proteomics.
Winners will receive up to $5,000 worth of TMT reagents, which researchers will use to quantify, normalize and streamline global protein expression studies using mass spectrometry.
“Ceremonies that recognize scientific innovation are one of the highlights of our jobs,” said Kay Opperman, product manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “It’s both amazing and humbling to see what talented scientists can do with our latest instrumentation and reagents. It’s a window into the future of proteomics.”
The ceremony took place during the 63rd Annual American Society for Mass Spectrometry Conference at the Landmark Suite at the Renaissance Hotel in St. Louis. Thermo Fisher Scientific is exhibiting throughout ASMS within Booth 140.
A panel of judges from Thermo Fisher Scientific and Proteome Sciences reviewed the applications and selected the following five recipients based on the scientific merit of their proposals:
- Jon Reed, Roskamp Institute, Sarasota, Florida
- Christopher Hughes, European Molecular Biology Laboratory (accepting on behalf of Chenchen Zhu)
- Jun Qu, State University of New York, Buffalo, New York
- Matthias Trost, University of Dundee, Scotland
