CARY, N.C. & SHANGHAI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SITRI, the innovation center for accelerating the development and commercialization of “More than Moore” solutions to power the Internet of Things, and Coventor Inc., a leader in automated solutions for developing semiconductor process technology and advanced MEMS devices, announced today they have signed an agreement making SITRI the first organization to provide representation, training and support for Coventor MEMS products within China.
As part of the agreement SITRI technical personnel will receive in-depth training on all Coventor products to guarantee that Coventor licensees receive the same level of support and assistance Coventor customers worldwide have come to expect. Access to Coventor’s suite of design solutions strengthens SITRI’s importance as a global center for “More than Moore” technology commercialization.
“The ‘More than Moore’ space is still an area of rapid innovation,” said Dr. Charles Yang, President of SITRI. “Access to a sophisticated set of design tools like Coventor’s is critical for China’s success with these technologies. We are proud to join the recognized leader in MEMS design solutions to help innovators get a fast start on robust designs and bring them to market quickly.”
An established provider of software tools that aid three-dimensional design of processes and products, Coventor has served the MEMS and advanced semiconductor markets for more than 19 years. As MEMS technology has advanced, Coventor has been at the forefront of developing sophisticated simulation tools to help designers and fabs achieve performance, reliability and repeatability in their designs, with a focus on design predictability and yield. Coventor’s MEMS+® and CoventorWare® design automation environments focus on MEMS device design and “More than Moore” integration of MEMS, while its SEMulator3D® environment focuses on process development and integration for MEMS, CMOS and other semiconductor technologies.
“MEMS designs are highly dependent on the processing of the MEMS wafers, and Coventor’s solutions help MEMS designers avoid costly mistakes before they are committed to fab,” said Mike Jamiolkowski, CEO of Coventor. “This agreement means SITRI’s engineers will be available to provide a high level of expertise and support, ensuring our Chinese customers will get the full benefit of their Coventor products.”
SITRI is emerging as the center for “More than Moore” commercialization and industry development, providing 360-degree solutions for companies and startups pursuing these new technologies, including investment, design, simulation, market engagement and company growth support. SITRI is associated with the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and has established strong ties to a broad range of Chinese industry, research and university players. This ecosystem enables these new businesses to grow by quickly taking their innovations from concept to commercialization. The addition of Coventor tools to SITRI’s suite of solutions represents an important element in developing this complete ecosystem.
Coventor products and services are available immediately from SITRI, with Coventor continuing to provide direct training and support for the advanced SEMulator3D product.
