RARITAN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ortho Clinical Diagnostics today announced the appointments of accomplished industry veterans Carl Hull, Ron Labrum, Thomas Mac Mahon and José (Joe) E. Almeida as independent members of the Board of Directors of the Company’s parent, Ortho-Clinical Bermuda Co. Ltd. OCD became a stand-alone company in July 2014. These appointments bring the total number of directors to ten.

Carl Hull is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gen-Probe, a molecular diagnostics company. He is a 30-plus year veteran of the diagnostics and life sciences industries. Previously, Mr. Hull held executive positions at Applied Biosystems, Applied Imaging, Ventana Medical Systems and Abbott Diagnostics. He served as the Chairman of the Board of the California Healthcare Institute from 2010 to 2012 and previously served on the Board of Directors of AdvaMedDx, an industry advocacy organization.
Ron Labrum most recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Fenwal, a global leader in transfusion technology. His prior role was as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal Health’s Healthcare Supply Chain Services segment. Mr. Labrum has more than 30 years of experience in the medical device and distribution industry, serving in senior leadership roles with Fortune 100 companies including Allegiance Corporation, Baxter International and American Hospital Supply Corporation. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Suture Express and he is a director of Wright Medical Group and Great Basin Scientific.
Thomas Mac Mahon currently serves as an Executive Partner at Foundation Medical Partners, a healthcare-focused venture capital fund. He is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Laboratory Corporation of America, one of the largest U.S. medical testing companies. Mr. Mac Mahon began his career with Roche Laboratories, eventually becoming responsible for all U.S. diagnostic operations of Roche. He currently serves as the lead outside director for Express Scripts, Inc., and is also a director of SynapDx Corporation and PharMerica Corporation, among others.
José (Joe) E. Almeida is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Covidien plc. He has served as chairman of Covidien’s Board of Directors since March 2012 and as President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Covidien since 2011. Prior to being appointed to his current position, Mr. Almeida was President of the Medical Devices organization at Covidien, where he oversaw several businesses. Mr. Almeida has held leadership positions at Covidien, Greatbatch Technologies, Inc., American Home Products’ Acufex Microsurgical division and Johnson & Johnson’s Professional Products division, and began his career as a Management Consultant at Andersen Consulting (Accenture). He currently serves as Chairman of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) Board of Directors and is on the Board of Directors of State Street Corporation and Partners in Health.
