NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Derek Hough and Mark Ballas of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars will choreograph a whole new move in their latest project—to renovate and flip a house in HGTV’s Mark & Derek’s Excellent Flip. Premiering Tuesday, April 28, at 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. ET/PT, the four-episode series will follow the multi-talented entertainers and first-time house flippers as they and their team of experts transform an outdated Los Angeles-area home into one of the best homes on the block.
“We’re taking on our very first house flip together,” said Mark. “And we’ve only given ourselves four weeks to complete it before the open house.”
“This is a huge financial investment for us and we are on a budget,” added Derek. “It’s a big risk—and we may not always agree on every design detail—but it’s a risk worth taking, worth putting our blood, sweat and money into to get the job done right.”
From demolition to design, Hough and Ballas will play an active role on the work site as they help renovate and prep the home to sell in the ultra-competitive L.A. real estate market. In the premiere episode, the duo will knock down walls to create a gorgeous great room that combines the kitchen, family room and dining room. The series will follow the guys’ progress as they tackle the home’s crumbling exterior and overgrown landscape, gut the master bathroom and update the bedrooms with new windows and floors.
“Our audience loves watching celebrities take on home renovation projects,” said Allison Page, general manager, HGTV and DIY Network. “They relate to all the highs and lows they've experienced in their own renovations and appreciate getting to peek into another side of life for the celebs they already know and love."
