TINLEY PARK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Keeping the waterways through Illinois clear for shipping and transportation is no easy task. Structural engineers, dredging teams and yard crews work grueling 12 to 13-hour days for months with little down time. Working anywhere from St. Paul, Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico means “home” is seldom really home.
Since October 2014, “home” for dozens of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees has been the Tinley Park Holiday Inn Hotel, adjoined to the Tinley Park Convention Center. Jeffrey Griffin, Supervisor and Coordinator for the Rock Island District, is delighted with the efficient billing administration, convenient location, full-service and exceptional restaurant, and hotel amenities.
“There are no issues with billing at the Holiday Inn; there are never mistakes to untangle or different rates suddenly appearing. We don’t need vouchers or special approvals. When our crews are suddenly called to emergencies, staff is accommodating about late check outs. Everyone is at the same place and that’s easier to wrangle too,” says Griffin.
The Hotel is perfectly situated just seconds from I-80, and minutes from major interstates interchanges, meaning employees can easily get to job sites all over Illinois.
Long, hard days mean that workers need convenience inside the Hotel too. On-campus Bananas Grille & Bar provides breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with a bar for after-hour unwinding. “My favorites are the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich on a pretzel bun and the Shrimp Alfredo,” says Griffin. “The food is awesome and there are plenty of choices. It’s really important that the team can go to the hotel, shower and eat right there. They don’t have a lot of leisure time.”
Griffin notes that, when they do have a quiet moment, the on-site pool, whirlpool and sauna are enjoyed. “The complimentary use of the LA Fitness is much appreciated, too. That workout gives the guys a good break.”
“The staff work with us. It’s a nicer facility and our guys get everything they need right there. We will back this summer and we’ll stay at the Tinley Park Holiday Inn and Convention Center.”
