Epson to Showcase Smart Glasses and Fitness Wearables Partners at Wearable TechCon 2015

Global Augmented Reality Solutions Leader Metaio and Fitness Incentive App Beeminder to Highlight Epson Wearable Product Solutions at Event

Wearables TechCon 2015

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--Epson America will showcase partners offering value-added software for the Epson Moverio™ smart glasses and Epson Active fitness and sports wearables at Wearables TechCon in Silicon Valley this week, March 9-11.

Metaio, a world leader in augmented reality (AR) software and solutions, will demonstrate a new optical calibration tool that enables precise 1:1 matching of transparent 3D content layered over real-world objects on the Epson Moverio BT-200 smart glasses for enhanced augmented reality experiences.

With the Moverio BT-200 smart glasses and the Metaio optical tool, service technicians, for instance, can see digital maintenance information attached to systems in their field of view, while game developers can create immersive games that seamlessly merge the virtual and physical worlds. The tool is now part of Metaio’s Junaio AR software development kit (SDK) serving more than 80,000 developers worldwide.

Beeminder, a “goal-tracking tool with teeth,” will demonstrate its app integration with the Epson Pulsense™ continuous heart rate activity monitors and the Epson Runsense™ GPS sports and running monitors.

Beeminder plots your progress to your fitness goal and charges you a small fee if you miss a target (the “sting” in its Beeminders) to provide motivation to maintain your personal commitment. With the Pulsense wrist wearable, Beeminder can ensure you’re meeting your goals for walking (e.g. an average of 10,000 steps a day) or even time spent sleeping, important to any fitness program. With the Runsense, Beeminder users can track running time and distance goals.

“These exciting demonstrations at Wearables TechCon highlight Epson’s commitment to partners who offer innovative technologies that enhance and optimize user experiences on our wearable products,” said Anna Jen, director, New Ventures/New Products for Epson America.

In addition to in-booth demos, industry experts from Epson America will lead solo sessions on fitness wearables and smart glasses at the show, including:
