South Korea Firefighting, Rescue Services Provider National 119, Benefits From Rapid, On-Site EC225 Support From Helicopter MRO Company Heli-One

DELTA, British Columbia--()--A primary provider of private firefighting and rescue services in South Korea had one of its key helicopters safely back in service in less than one-half the expected time following routine inspection and maintenance performed by Heli-One.

Heli-One is a segment of CHC Helicopter, the operating company of CHC Group Ltd. (NYSE:HELI).

National 119 was able to resume critical helicopter rescue operations with its Airbus Helicopters EC225 aircraft in just five weeks, rather than the anticipated 12. National 119 had chosen Heli-One, the largest independent provider of helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, to complete major inspections and repairs on the EC225 aircraft and its Makila 2 engines.

With approval from the Korean Civil Aviation Authority, a Heli-One team from Stavanger, Norway, travelled to National 119’s facility in Seoul to perform the six year, 1800 hour inspection and associated repairs, plus Service Bulletin incorporation and other component inspections required by the customer.

“With extensive knowledge of the EC225 aircraft, our crew was able to significantly reduce time required to complete the work, while maintaining an exceptionally high rate of quality,” said Anthony DiNota, vice president, Commercial Group, Heli-One. “This type of performance is distinguishing Heli-One as an MRO leader on these airframe and engine types, and demonstrates our ability to deliver innovative solutions with rapid turnaround.”

“Operating a small fleet of aircraft means keeping all of our helicopters flying is critical to our ability to save lives,” said CH Lee, Chief of Maintenance Technician, National 119. “Heli-One essentially enabled us to provide the people we serve an additional seven weeks of vital services.”
