SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rdio, a leading global music streaming service, today announces an exclusive partnership with AXS, an AEG joint venture, that enables concert goers to hear their favorite songs anytime, anywhere even before the concert starts – on mobile phones, on the web, in some cars and on Internet-connected TVs and wireless speakers.
All AXS.com ticket buyers will automatically be eligible to receive free, trial subscriptions to Rdio Unlimited, which provides on-demand access to Rdio’s comprehensive catalog of more than 32 million songs. Rdio Unlimited also includes Rdio's curated Internet radio stations that create programming based on genres and your musical tastes.
Rdio's breadth of radio and on-demand formats bridges the gap between the easy lean back radio listening experience and the ability to lean forward and pick specific songs.
This deep integration with the live music experience will allow direct engagement with fans, notifying them immediately when new music from bands they've enjoyed live is added to the Rdio catalog and helping them discover new music that is similar to the artists for whom they've purchased concert tickets. Each new Rdio account will be personalized based on prior concert purchases in order to create the best listening experience, bringing artists and their fans closer together.
“We are thrilled to partner with AXS to provide millions of concert goers access to our vast music library of over 32 million songs through this seamless integration with the live performance purchase experience,” said Anthony Bay, CEO of Rdio. “Rdio’s music discovery features and unlimited streaming service will provide AXS customers a unique and always-on experience that is second only to hearing your favorite music live.”
“AXS has always been about more than just ticketing. Our goal is to provide technologies that unify every aspect of the event experience and Rdio’s superior user experience and deep catalog will allow AXS.com users to easily find and listen to their favorite music, discover new artists they might want to see live, and help us alert them to events by their favorite artists," said Bryan Perez, CEO of AXS. "We are excited to partner with and support Rdio to bring the music-listening experience from the concert venue to your home, office and smartphone.”
Rdio Unlimited will be offered as a free, 30-day trial during the ticket checkout process on AXS.com. The trial period will not start until a customer activates his/her account, including by downloading the app or playing a song on Rdio.com. Integrated billing through AXS.com will make it simple for customers to extend their Rdio Unlimited subscriptions beyond the trial period if they choose not to cancel. Customers who choose not to receive the free trial of Rdio Unlimited will receive access to Rdio’s free ad-supported Internet radio service, offering a wide range of curated and personalized stations.
This innovative partnership is believed to be the first between a major live event company and a leading music streaming service, connecting passionate concert-going music fans with the benefits of music streaming.
