CINCINNATI--()--Laser Spine Institute, the leader in minimally invasive spine surgery, opened the doors today on its new facility in Cincinnati. Located across from Eden Park, the 36,000-square-foot facility will be staffed by award-winning neurosurgeon Thomas Francavilla, M.D., F.A.A.N.S., a two-time recipient of the Southern Neurosurgical Association’s first prize in clinical research. Laser Spine Institute has helped more than 50,000 patients across the country find relief from neck or back pain since the opening of its first ambulatory surgery center in 2005.

The Greater Cincinnati metropolitan area contains nearly 1 million people with neck or back pain, according to the National Institutes of Health, The Burden of Musculoskeletal Diseases in the United States, reinforcing the company’s decision to expand into the market.

“Cincinnati is an area where we identified a tremendous need for minimally invasive options for neck and back pain, and we look forward to introducing the city to our patient-centric approach,” said Bill Horne, Chief Executive Officer, Laser Spine Institute. “We’re also thrilled to have Dr. Francavilla, a neurosurgeon recognized for his dual focus on patient experience and surgical outcomes, serving our patients.”

Prior to joining Laser Spine Institute, Dr. Francavilla held a variety of leadership roles, including President of the Neurosurgical Society of Alabama, Regional Director of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Southeast Quadrant Chairman of the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies. Dr. Francavilla is also a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and American Association of Neurosurgical Surgeons.

Expected to contribute more than $33 million to the local economy, the facility features the latest technological advancements and surgical equipment, including three Class C operating rooms, 10 clinic exam rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite, a patient café offering complimentary breakfast and lunch, flat-screen televisions and free wireless Internet for patients and their Care Partners. To date, Laser Spine Institute has made 31 local hires to support the facility and is actively recruiting for 14 additional positions.

The center is located at 644 Eden Park Drive in Cincinnati.
