HomeServe to Offer Exterior Water and Sewer Service Line Emergency Protection Plans to Sioux City Residents in Partnership with City of Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa--()--HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of home emergency repair service plans, today announced the details of its new agreement with City of Sioux City Public Works to provide optional home emergency protection plans to Sioux City residents. HomeServe was selected by the City of Sioux City as the exclusive provider of Exterior Water Service Line Coverage, Exterior Sewer/Septic Line Coverage and Interior Plumbing and Drainage System Coverage.

Sioux City homeowners will now have the opportunity to obtain this optional protection against the inconvenience and unexpected expense of major repairs to the exterior lines serving their home. Many homeowners are not aware that exterior water and sewer service piping from the City of Sioux City’s main connection to the house are the homeowner’s responsibility. Additional coverage is also available for problems inside the home including fixing common issues like clogged toilets, blocked shower drains and leaking interior water pipes. All service plan holders will have access to a Repair Hotline that is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to bring local, licensed, and insured contractors right to their home for repairs to the covered systems.

“We encourage residents to explore the service plans offered through HomeServe to see if they might be right for the homeowner,” said Jade Dundas, Director of Public Works, City of Sioux City. “One reason why we partnered with HomeServe, and why we are rolling out these plans now, is that last year more than 50 homeowners had to pay for water or sewer line repairs or replacements out of their own pocket. These repairs can be quite steep, running into the thousands of dollars.”

The City of Sioux City has negotiated a preferred rate with HomeServe, to ensure that the plans provide significant protection at an affordable price. The Exterior Water Service Line plan is $4.49 a month and provides coverage to repair the homeowner’s water line from the City main to the shut off-valve or meter inside the home with no repair benefit limit; and the Exterior Sewer/Septic Service Line plan is $7.99 a month to cover from the home to the City main and comes with a $10,000 repair limit. The Interior Pluming and Drainage System Coverage plan is $9.99 a month, allows for two service calls, and repairs up to $2,500 for each service call.

“We are pleased to partner with Sioux City to offer homeowners protection against costly water and sewer service line repairs in time for the winter season, ” said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe USA. “Our plans protect homeowners from expensive repairs to household systems not typically covered by basic homeowners insurance, things that many Americans are not prepared to manage on their own.”

Homeowners will receive program details in the mail over the next week. Details are also available online at a special new website: www.SiouxCityServicePlans.com, or homeowners can call HomeServe toll-free at 844-858-2898 for more information.
