Rural Healthcare Communities Blaze Path to Interoperability via Inofile, Surescripts Technology

Initiative launches in Midwest communities, leveraging Kno2™ exchange platform and nation’s leading health information network

BOISE, Idaho--()--Inofile today announced the launch of an initiative that enables rural community care providers to achieve interoperability and remove fax entirely from healthcare operations. Rural care organizations in Drumright, Oklahoma and Boonville, Missouri are implementing Inofile’s cloud-based Kno2™ clinical document exchange platform to securely send and receive electronic patient information with care partners in their healthcare community and beyond. The initiative also provides rural caregivers with extended access to the leading health information network of Surescripts, which is actively engaged on the project. Several rural communities are expected to join the initiative in the coming months.

“A community is only as strong as its weakest link, which is especially true when it comes to how healthcare organizations share critical patient information with one another, particularly those with differing incentives, technology and budgets,” said Jon Elwell, CEO, Inofile. “Working together with Surescripts and our rural healthcare partners, we are eliminating the biggest challenges in exchanging medical information between providers. Now even the un-incentivized members of the healthcare spectrum can send and receive patient information with all partners through a single system customized to their needs.”

“Rural Healthcare providers can be the leaders in patient care coordination which starts with the elimination of fax and the adoption of direct clinical document exchange by all providers outside of the acute care setting. We are excited about the opportunity to partner with Inofile,” said Larry Arthur, CEO of Rural Community Hospitals of America.

With its latest functionality enhancements, the Kno2 clinical document exchange platform aids acute care settings to attest to meaningful use and empowers all care partners to securely send and receive electronic patient information via the Surescripts network, the cloud, scanners or common multi-function devices. This widespread accessibility minimizes the technology investment, resources and training needed for acute and non-acute care settings alike.

Kno2 also enables non-incentivized healthcare organizations to stay connected with primary referral partners by giving each provider ownership of their own Direct address or addresses and the ability to manage workflows through a single point of control instead of using multiple partner-specific addresses, systems and workflows.

“While true interoperability between technology vendors, hospitals and physicians, is a reality today in many communities across the country, more work is required to address the needs of rural healthcare providers,” said Jeff Miller, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Clinical Network Services for Surescripts. “As we bring our leading network and Inofile’s expertise with clinical document exchange into these communities, the entire healthcare system will be more efficient and effective with technology that improves access to patient information, minimizes burdensome processes and enhances communication across the spectrum of care.”
