Satellite Healthcare Names Rick J. Barnett as President and Chief Executive Officer

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Satellite Healthcare announced today it has named Rick J. Barnett as President and Chief Executive Officer. Barnett, 54, joins Satellite with more than 30 years of experience at some of California’s leading hospitals and ambulatory care centers. Barnett’s top priority will be to further establish Satellite as the nation's leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of care for people living with kidney disease. In doing so, he will continue to expand Satellite’s footprint and to advance the level of dialysis care and related services provided to more than 6,000 patients throughout the United States.

Barnett joins Satellite from VHA, Inc., where he was Sr. Vice President of VHA Inc., responsible for the enterprise on a national level, while simultaneously fulfilling his responsibilities as Executive Officer of the West Coast Region. VHA, Inc., serves more than 1,500 not-for-profit hospitals and more than 90,000 ambulatory and physician practice entities. In addition to providing group purchasing/supply chain services, VHA assists its member organizations in quality, operational, and cost improvement, and also manages numerous hospital networks. In his role, Barnett was responsible for overseeing a network of more than 100 hospitals and related entities in six states. Previously, Barnett had served as President and CEO at Mercy Medical Center Redding; President and CEO at Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta; and Senior Vice President and COO of Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.

Barnett holds a Master’s Degree in Business from California State University at Fullerton and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Pacific Union College. He has held seats on numerous boards ranging from The Hospital Council of Northern California to various non-profit, government and university organizations.
