Department of Homeland Security Implements eClinicalWorks

eClinicalWorks Joins Harris Corporation to Bring Electronic Health Records to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Health Service Corps

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.--()--eClinicalWorks®, a leader in ambulatory healthcare IT solutions, today announces that the Department of Homeland Security is live using eClinicalWorks Cloud-based electronic health records (EHR) system for up to 1,000 of its medical professionals to help manage care at all 23 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities. Using eClinicalWorks allows the department to create a complete longitudinal record and share data between facilities. Integration with its current systems, including laboratory, radiology and pharmacy, will extend the benefits of this solution.

The eClinicalWorks system is a key part of Harris Corporation’s solution to deliver integrated medical records, patient tracking and shared information throughout the ICE Health Service Corps.

“ICE has a frequent need to send medical information across different locations, which is cumbersome when each site has its own system,” said CAPT Deanna Gephart, Deputy Assistant Director of Operations for ICE Health Service Corps. “The Department has standardized on an EHR system that allows it to seamlessly share information. eClinicalWorks has been working with ICE to rapidly deploy this solution with features that are unique to this organization, demonstrating our commitment as a partner with comprehensive technology.”

Using eClinicalWorks’ EHR aids ICE in streamlining processes and promoting improved patient care in its facilities. The system also permits providers to utilize chronic and preventative care measures, including those that are unique to this setting such as intake screening process flows, electronic medication administration and infirmary management. eClinicalWorks is working with Harris Corporation, the Prime Contractor, and ICE to develop additional functionalities and integration with its current laboratory, radiology and pharmacy systems.

“eClinicalWorks delivers healthcare IT solutions for a variety of organizations,” said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “Our successful track record with government agencies and departments of health demonstrates that we have the right product for this setting. We are honored to have been selected by the Department of Homeland Security.”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is the principal investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the second largest investigative agency in the federal government. Created in 2003 through a merger of the investigative and interior enforcement elements of the U.S. Customs Service and the Immigration and Naturalization Service, ICE now has more than 20,000 employees in offices in all 50 states and 47 foreign countries.
