Vivint Employees Package Meals for Special Needs Children in Haiti

Vivint Gives Back Program Works with Feed My Starving Children to Assemble More Than 200,000 Meals in Three Days

PROVO, Utah--()--Vivint, one of the largest providers of smart home technology in North America, is gathering 1,000 employee volunteers this week to package more than 200,000 meals for malnourished orphans with special needs in Haiti.

This service project is part of a continuing partnership between Vivint Gives Back and the non-profit organization Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). As of spring of 2014, FMSC has packaged 600 million meals for malnourished children around the world. While FMSC meals reach children in more than 70 countries, Vivint will send meals to the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission, a special needs orphanage.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Vivint employees to touch the lives of children in Haiti,” said Holly Mero-Bench, director of Vivint Gives Back. “Many children would starve without these meals. Our partnership with FMSC provides the perfect opportunity for our employees and their families to make a difference in the lives of these children.”

This is the fourth consecutive year Vivint has purchased and packaged food for FMSC, amounting to more than 800,000 meals total—enough meals to feed more than 2,000 children for an entire year.

The packaged meals are made of a rice or potato base. They are designed to help malnourished children, as well as improve health, growth and physical well-being of children who are no longer in immediate danger of starvation. The service project begins Thursday, August 14, and will continue through Saturday, August 16, 2014.
