HTC One® (M8) Now MirrorLink™-Enabled

Millions more consumers to enjoy seamless transition of mobile content accessibility from the handset to the dashboard

BEAVERTON, Ore.--()--The Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC), an organization driving global technologies for phone-centric car connectivity solutions, today announced that the HTC One (M8) is now MirrorLink-enabled. MirrorLink will arrive via a software upgrade to current HTC One (M8) users with the promise of more MirrorLink-enabled HTC devices to come in the near future. (For further information on Android 4.4.3’s regional release date please contact your local HTC’s customer service).

“HTC's commitment to creating a holistic user experience now extends from its smartphone origins to cars, with the power to enhance lifestyles for smartphone users and drivers alike,” said Andy Lee, Automotive Director of HTC. “The HTC One (M8) device’s signature new technologies – HTC Sense® 6 and Motion Launch™– focus on anticipating users’ needs and making everyday tasks easier. MirrorLink fits squarely within the spirit of this functionality by providing a seamless and responsible method of accessing smartphone content behind the wheel.”

MirrorLink is the leading industry standard for car-smartphone connectivity and is designed for maximum interoperability between a wide range of smartphones and cars. MirrorLink is also the only OS- and OEM-agnostic standard for car-smartphone connectivity and the only vendor-neutral standard where no single entity has a controlling stake. MirrorLink thus offers the quickest global route to safer and more enjoyable connected driving. Furthermore, as a result of the HTC One (M8) deployment, MirrorLink will be distributed to millions more users, significantly widening the technology’s general business case and paving the way for greater adoption around the globe.

“The CCC’s number-one priority is handset availability,” said Alan Ewing, President and Executive Director of the CCC. “That said, this is the start of major movement to come as CCC member companies already have the largest market share of cars and smartphones of all industry ventures on car-smartphone connectivity. The HTC one (M8) places MirrorLink in the hands of even more drivers, bringing the CCC much closer to its vision of MirrorLink becoming the de facto global standard for car-smartphone connectivity.”

In addition to its Smart Sensor Hub and Motion Launch controls, the HTC One (M8) features new Duo Camera technology to deliver creative, professional-looking photos with amazing effects. The device also carries HTC BoomSound™, which enhances the overall connected audio experience. The HTC One (M8) launched March 25, 2014.
