BoxWorks 2014

LOS ALTOS, Calif.--()--Box today announced that Toyota will use Box’s cloud platform to power thousands of associates across national business units. Toyota’s IT organization – responsible for bringing innovative, cutting-edge technology to employees – selected Box to address both employee need for access to content across devices as well as IT requirements for security and an open platform to support custom-built applications.

“It’s important to arm employees with technology that drives productivity and innovation across the organization,” said Zack Hicks, group vice president and chief information officer for Toyota. “Moving to technologies, like Box, provides a way to securely share and collaborate using any device and empowers associates to discover new ways to move our business forward.”

“Toyota is at the forefront of in-car technology that provides consumers with new ways to access real-time services in their cars,” said Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box. “Similarly, they’re carrying this creative and innovative strategy over to meet their internal business needs and are leveraging cloud and mobile technologies to transform their IT architecture. We are incredibly excited to work with them to power new ways of working on the Box platform.”

Toyota in North America operates as independent affiliates that are separated by different systems, business processes and slightly different corporate cultures. Using Box makes becoming “One Toyota” easier. It enables Toyota to better collaborate among affiliates, speed decision making, share best practices and leverage the combined strength of its associates.

Additional Box benefits to Toyota include:

  • Simple and intuitive user interface enables employees to easily and quickly adopt Box with little training from IT.
  • Box’s open platform allows for custom-built applications and integrations with other cloud solutions, allowing integration with current business workflows.
  • Mobile and offline access to content for traveling executives.
  • Extensive capabilities to govern and protect sensitive content.

Box makes it easy for 240,000 businesses around the world to share and collaborate across devices, while also providing IT with an administrative interface for reporting and managing business information. Other global brands using Box include GE, Procter & Gamble, Schneider Electric and Pearson.
