Luxembourg Government Donates French Language Books to “Education Francaise Bay Area” During Visit of HRH Crown Prince Guillaume and the Deputy Prime Minister Etienne Schneider

SAN FRANCISCO--()--The Government of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Consulate of San Francisco today announced the donation of a collection of textbooks for teaching French grammar and French literature by writers of Luxembourg origin to the representatives of Education Francaise Bay Area. EFBA is a nonprofit offering high quality, affordable French after school programs to both francophone and anglophone children aged 5-18 in local Bay Area schools.

The donation is designed to provide additional French language education to regional students and was completed during an economic mission to the Western United States, led by HRH Crown Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Etienne Schneider.

"Bridges-Brecken" Symbolizes Luxembourg-Bay Area Connection

The visit also featured the unveiling of the artwork "Bridges - Brécken" designed by Luxembourg artist Armand Strainchamps at the request of the Consulate General in San Francisco. This 16 x 5 art piece is now hanging at the Luxembourg Consulate and is intended to display the mission of the economic and consular representation of Luxembourg in San Francisco.

The presentation of the painting and the books came during a reception at the Luxembourg Consulate attended by Chief of Protocol of the City of San Francisco, Charlotte Mailliard Shultz, along with other city representatives, members of the visiting delegation, and private sponsors of the artwork. The ceremony highlighted the important economic and consular mission during the 30 years the Consulate has been based in San Francisco, in appreciation of the hospitality and support provided by the Mayor and city officials. HRH Crown Prince Guillaume presented a cartographic representation of the city of Luxembourg to the city.

In a brief speech, former Secretary of State George P. Shultz noted the important role of economic and diplomatic missions abroad. He noted the importance of listening, creating relationships and building trust between and among nations.
