Skanska has signed a contract with Akademiska Hus AB to build a laboratory for medical research at Karolinska Institutet Campus in Solna, Sweden. The contract is worth about SEK 400 M, which will be included in order bookings for Skanska Sweden for the second quarter of 2014.
The new laboratory is an addendum to the Biomedicum property Skanska is constructing. The laboratory will be the second housing body of Biomedicum. Karolinska Institutet will conduct research in different disciplines in the laboratory.
Phase two is a laboratory with nine stories and a total of about 17,000 square meters operational area. Sustainability is in focus for the construction, in terms of materials as well as technical solutions. The aim is to certify the building according to Miljöbyggnad, level Silver.
Skanska Sweden is one of Sweden’s largest construction companies, with operations in building and civil-engineering construction.
