Search Firm Selected for AESC Presidential Search

NEW YORK--()--The Board of Directors of the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC) would like to announce the membership of the search committee charged with recruiting the association’s next President and Chief Executive Officer and the selection of the AESC member firm as the committee’s partner in the executive search process. The Board is committed to ensuring a search process that exemplifies best practices in our industry. This follows an earlier announcement of the planned retirement in the coming year of long-time AESC President and CEO Peter M. Felix.

It is important to have a search committee that reflects and represents the global nature and broad mix of constituencies represented in the association and its membership. The committee represents diversity across a number of dimensions. It includes members from global firms and specialized boutiques. There is representation across different geographies, functional and industry client bases, and tenure in the search profession. There is gender, ethnic and cultural diversity on the committee. The eight people named to the search committee, each with a long history of service to the AESC, include:

  • Nairouz Bader, Vision Executive Search, Dubai (Board member and Middle East Council Chair)
  • Thomas Daniels, Spencer Stuart, New York (Board member and Americas Council Chair)
  • Anton Derlyatka, Ward Howell, Moscow (Board member and European Council member)
  • Jason Johnson, Johnson Partners, Sydney (AESC Vice Chair, Board member and Asia-Pac Council Chair)
  • Alan Kaplan, Kaplan & Associates, Philadelphia (Americas Council member)
  • Aidan Kennedy, CT Partners, London (AESC Board Chair, Board member and European Council Chair)
  • Sam Pettway, BoardWalk Consulting, Atlanta (former Board member and Americas Council member)
  • Krista Walochik, Norman Broadbent, Madrid (AESC Treasurer, Board member and European Council member)

The search committee, chaired by Tom Daniels, issued a request for proposals in December and was pleased to receive a broad response, which included proposals from large global firms, single office boutiques and networks coming from different geographies. The firms represented on the Search Committee were asked to recuse themselves to avoid the appearance of any conflicts. Meetings were held with senior representatives of seven short-listed firms, followed by rigorous assessment, due diligence and pre-referencing. The quality of presentations was outstanding and the committee is extremely grateful for the commitment shown to the AESC and the search project. Any number of the firms could ultimately have served with distinction as the AESC’s search partner. Following a review of the different presentations, select follow-up discussions and extensive reference checking, the committee selected Heidrick & Struggles to be its search partner.

The search will commence immediately with a thorough but concentrated consultation phase on the job description to solicit views on what responsibilities, experience, critical competencies and other key attributes should be reflected in the brief. The Search Committee wants to ensure that the Board, regional Councils, AESC staff and other key stakeholders have the opportunity to provide their input.

In this critical mission to find the new President and CEO who will lead the AESC through the next critical phase of its development, the Search Committee seeks to leverage the extensive relationships and networks of its members and their consultants. It is critical that the best possible candidates can be identified and attracted. The AESC Board and Search Committee hopes that it can continue to count upon the membership, AESC staff and other key constituencies for its ongoing help and support.
