Netsmart TIER® CareRecord™ is Third Netsmart Post-Acute EHR to Attain Meaningful Use Stage 2 Certification

Company continues to lead post-acute EHR Meaningful Use certification

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--()--Netsmart today announced it has attained ambulatory Complete EHR, 2014 Edition (Meaningful Use Stage 2) certification for its TIER® version 8.0 solution.

Certification of the TIER CareRecord follows earlier Meaningful Use Stage 2 complete certification of Netsmart’s myAvatar™ and myEvolv™ CareRecords.

Netsmart continued the development of the TIER CareRecord after its acquisition of Lisle, Illinois-based Sequest Technologies, Inc. in October 2011. Since that time, TIER’s capabilities have expanded to include enhanced e-prescribing, interoperability and consumer connectivity capabilities. In addition, TIER now contains Guardiant™ decision support tools to assist organizations in proactively monitoring the health of their EHR environment.

“We are committed to preparing our clients for the coordinated care, pay-for-performance, outcomes-based environment that is now a reality,” said Michael Valentine, chief executive officer, Netsmart. “Part of that commitment is the ongoing investment of dollars and resources required to provide our clients with CareRecords that go above and beyond the basic clinical capabilities required by Meaningful Use Stage 2.”

Stage 1 Complete and Modular Meaningful Use certification expired for all vendors on December 31, 2013, so they must successfully pass 2014 certification requirements for their users to continue to qualify for Meaningful Use incentive funds. In addition to myAvatar, myEvolv and TIER, Netsmart is on schedule to attain Complete EHR, 2014 Edition compliant certification for its CMHC/MIS and Insight™ CareRecords.

Behavioral health, addiction treatment, I/DD, child and family, public health, and other health and human services providers are currently eligible for Medicaid or Medicare Meaningful Use funds based on the number of Eligible Professionals (EPs), such as physicians and nurse practitioners, in their organizations.

Certification testing for myEvolv was conducted by Drummond Group Inc., one of the ONC-Authorized Testing and Certification Bodies (ATCBs) for EHR certification named by the Office of the National Coordinator to provide Meaningful Use certification for EHR systems and applications.
