GOTHENBURG, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ascom has been selected to deliver a complete solution connecting patients and nursing staff at the new regional hospital, Nytt Østfoldsykehus in southern Norway. The overall order was won together with Hewlett-Packard Norge AS (HP) and has a total value of 112 MNOK. Ascom’s part of the entire ICT order is about 10 pct.
Ascom will be a main subcontractor to one of the largest healthcare projects in the Nordics over the next years. A consortium led by HP has won the order for the ICT infrastructure at Nytt Østfoldsykehus, the new regional hospital in southern Norway. Ascom will build the most critical part of the ICT infrastructure – the ”communication platform”, handling emergency and personal alarms as well as nurse calls, intercom, cordless telephony and an application suite of intelligent software for workflow planning.
Nytt Østfoldsykehus is predicted to be the most advanced hospital in Northern Europe. When finished in November 2015, the hospital will comprise 650 beds and have 4.900 employees.
”Serving a population of 300.000 people, Nytt Østfoldsykehus will be offering state‐of‐the art facilities that supports high patient security and smooth working processes. We are very proud to be part of this important infrastructure project and to deliver our advanced solutions for patients and staff,” says Claes Ödman, General Manager, Ascom Wireless Solutions. ”The partnership with HP is also important. It’s the first time we are partners in this kind of project”.
Both companies have strong expertise in the healthcare industry – HP within the area of network and integration and Ascom in the field of critical communication and workflow support. HP has delivered the IT infrastructure and integration to hospitals in among others Norway, Denmark, England, Canada, and Australia. Ascom’s customer list covers a wide range of hospitals in 18 countries including a strong footprint in the Nordics.
Based on the common experience and strategic insights from Nytt Østfoldsykehus HP plan to build a template for handling ICT‐projects at hospitals with Ascom as a partner.
”We see Ascom as a very reliable and competent supplier of mission critical communication solutions to the healthcare industry. Ascom’s solutions play an extremely important role in the project at Nytt Østfoldsykehus and in any other advanced hospital environment. There are strong synergies between the offerings and competencies of our companies that we would like to exploit in future projects”, says Kaare Finbak, director of business development, HP Norway.
”By joining forces we can offer best‐in‐class solutions to hospitals not only in the Nordics but on an international scale. There are some very interesting international perspectives in this for both companies”, says Kaare Finbak.
