LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Soccer players, hospital patients, and school children across El Salvador were recently paid a visit by Herbalife (NYSE:HLF) and LA Galaxy officials—including academy coach and Salvadoran soccer legend Mauricio Cienfuegos—who were in the Central American country for a CONCACAF game against Metapan.
The week-long visit included sessions with the children and check donation ceremonies to notable Salvadoran institutions including soccer clinic La Fundacion Educando a un Salvadoreno (FESA), Benjamin Bloom Kids Hospital, and Francisco Campos elementary school, who all received financial donations.
FESA will use the funds to purchase soccer equipment and maintain ongoing soccer programs. Herbalife and LA Galaxy officials also toured the Benjamin Bloom Kids Hospital where physicians explained that funds would be used for its physiotherapy area, where children go to recover from second and third degree burns. Children at the hospital’s burn ward also received LA Galaxy gifts, including player bobble heads and pins. The trip was capped by a visit to Cienfuegos’ elementary school, Francisco Campos, where students got to hear from Cienfuegos and received lessons on the importance of education.
