WINTERS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Mariani Nut Company has successfully completed a comprehensive food safety audit that has earned the company the prized British Retail Consortium (BRC) certificate. The certification arrived with an “A” rating.
The BRC food safety program has become the global standard for technical protocol for food suppliers and is being increasingly requested by retailers and manufacturers worldwide.
Mariani Nut Company was evaluated on all levels from receiving and processing to packaging in seven categories, many overlapping to create redundancy in the oversight. The areas included senior management commitment and continual improvement, a food safety plan including HACCP standards, food safety and quality management, site standards, product control, process control and personnel.
Mariani has always carried out a program of continually reinvesting in processing equipment and facilities and providing employee training. However, this recent exercise involved hundreds of additional employee hours and an increased level of commitment to pass this rigorous audit to assure customers of the integrity of products supplied by Mariani.
