MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Increasingly, companies are deploying the Aerospike database to reliably power their mission-critical real-time, big data-driven applications. With its database now in production within some of the industry’s most data-intensive environments, Aerospike has attracted Joe Gottlieb to join the company as chief executive officer (CEO).
For more than 25 years, Gottlieb has driven the growth of leading information technology companies and served as a voice in the industry through his executive roles at KEYW Corporation; Sensage, Inc.; McAfee, Inc.; Nokia; META Group, Inc.; and Ernst & Young, LLP. In joining Aerospike, he brings extensive experience in strategic product development and portfolio management, as well as creating partner ecosystems. As CEO, Gottlieb will spearhead initiatives to build on Aerospike’s established leadership in digital advertising and expand into new markets with similarly mission-critical real-time big data applications—where instant insight is a must and downtime is not an option.
“Joe has a long track record of success in leading high-performing teams to win in interesting markets, and we are thrilled to have him on board,” said Rohini Chakravarthy, NEA partner and Aerospike board director. “Joe’s experience, coupled with the exciting market opportunity ahead, has Aerospike well positioned for its next stage of explosive growth.”
Internet-Scale Data in Real Time
The announcement follows last week’s launch of Aerospike 3, which empowers developers to extend the functionality of their Internet-scale applications into the database, enabling faster, more relevant real-time interactions. Aerospike 3 builds on Aerospike 2, the flash-optimized in-memory database and key-value store that customers rely on to consistently respond within milliseconds while predictably processing terabytes of data and billions of transactions per day—all with no downtime. (For more information, see Aerospike 3 press release dated August 19, 2013.)
“The Internet has brought a new level of proximity to everything: data, social circles, commerce. It’s all just a click away, and it is generating new behaviors and opportunities,” said Joe Gottlieb, Aerospike CEO. “Aerospike not only has revolutionized database design to capitalize on these opportunities; it has achieved a rare level of customer satisfaction and delight in some of the world’s most demanding real-time big data environments. I am excited to join the extremely talented team at Aerospike in building on this success.”
