PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WSO2 today announced that the Ohio Automobile Club (OAC), a member club of AAA, North America’s largest motoring and leisure travel organization, has implemented an integrated travel booking system using the WSO2 Carbon enterprise middleware platform. Using a service-oriented architecture (SOA) approach, OAC now delivers its Web-based Travel Syndication Technology (TST) system, which provides a consistent experience for its members and travel agents. Within the first year of putting TST into production, car and hotel travel sales at OAC increased by 53% as more OAC members used the OAC travel site. The case study can be downloaded by visiting http://wso2.com/casestudies/ohio-auto-club-provides-first-class-integrated-travel-planning-with-wso2-carbon.
The new Ohio Automobile Club case study from WSO2 describes the SOA architecture and examines how much of the back-office integration was completed in less than a month using WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus (WSO2 ESB) and WSO2 Governance Registry. It also reviews how, by automating many processes, OAC now saves hours of hand processing required before TST was deployed. Among the topics covered in the case study are how:
- WSO2 ESB enables integration between TST and the Campana AXIS Membership system, transforming incoming XML messages into Campana’s version of the Open Travel Alliance (OTA) XML format, which is the standard for the travel industry.
- OAC ensures consistent high availability—even during the peak use of the travel system—by using one WSO2 ESB as a load balancer and a two-node WSO2 ESB cluster for the transformation.
- Integration of WSO2 ESB with MySQL and a .NET Web frontend to individual bookings as they are sent to AXIS provide a near real-time view of booking data.
- WSO2 Governance Registry enables both design-time and run-time governance.
“WSO2 has enabled us to create a highly efficient, flexible and manageable solution with TST, which has succeeded better than we ever could have expected,” said Robert Zahn, Ohio Automobile Club CIO. “We are now building on that success by expanding TST to other clubs that are also doing the same back-office integration with the Campana system, as well as, adding new products to our system. This represents a tremendous opportunity, and WSO2 will be an important strategic partner for our future.”
“Ohio Automobile Club has a strong track record of bringing trusted services to motorists, from roadside help to insurance, and now the club is providing a first-class experience with travel planning and booking through its TST system,” said Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana, WSO2 founder and CEO. “We are excited by OAC’s success in using WSO2 Carbon to help rapidly bring to market a Web-based integrated system that has proven popular with members. It points to the power of using high-performance enterprise middleware that is lean, modular, open and highly configurable.”
