New Jiepang 5.0 Redefines the Check-in

Redesign of China’s Most Popular LBS App to Deliver 360° Connections with Life’s Moments and Friends

BEIJING--()--This summer, Jiepang launches a pivotal app update that evolves from its roots as a location based service (LBS) to a holistic check-in social network. Jiepang has developed a niche community of 5 million users who are actively enjoying life and eager to share experiences. When out for dinner with friends, having an afternoon coffee or at the hottest music concerts, Jiepang users check-in to share these moments with friends while adding fun photos and syncing to other major social networks. Based on Jiepang users’ natural habit to express great moments in great places, the new Jiepang offers a 360° check-in that includes the who and what, on top of where. Users can track each post with new activity tags like “food”, “travel” or “exercise”, and tag friends who are in those moments. Jiepang 5.0 helps users express life stories, connect with friends, explore their interests and make new friends.

Jiepang has enriched the user check-in experience by designing an entirely revamped interface and adding new features like:

  • 16 activity tags to help reflect and browse specific moments like “travel”, “coffee” and “parties”
  • “With” function to tag friends who are in those moments
  • Direct sync to WeChat and Jiepang invitation to WeChat contacts

“We are very excited to launch the new Jiepang which expands the original concept of checking in locations, to checking into all your moments. We want to see people share and experience every moment together. Jiepang has often been referred to as the Foursquare of China but we’re optimistic about our move away from that because Jiepang is seizing this huge, not to be missed opportunity as the next biggest player in social, after Weibo and WeChat,” said David Liu, Founder and CEO of Jiepang.

Over the past three years, Jiepang has been continuously inspired by young app users who have the world at their fingertips with hearts set on the latest lifestyle activities. As the leading LBS in China, Jiepang has been the guiding platform for checking in user whereabouts, and for scoring special deals from popular venues and brands. But what Jiepang has discovered in its masses of data is that users are increasingly using the check-in to capture life’s moments, as well as connect with friends and favorite brands. The new activity tags can filter users’ posts and photos making it even easier to reflect on specific moments, explore communities of people with similar interests and discover different lifestyles. The new activity tags and expanded cross-platform reach to WeChat will also open a new chapter for Jiepang’s marketing and brand partnerships. As brands continue to shift the weight of marketing efforts into mobile, Jiepang is ready to deliver on multiple touch points.

With the new Jiepang 5.0, users can (1) Create a post: select location, tag friends, add picture, write thoughts and select an activity tag (2) Use the homepage check-in toolbar to make posts and view chronological feed of posts from user's Jiepang community; individual posts can be synced to WeChat with one-click of their icon; Jiepang also offers quick post creation via a check-in toolbar (3) Access their personal feed: to browse history in chronological order, sort by activity tag, view just pictures and review personal account details.
