Keynote Presentations Provided a Look Ahead in Government Technology at FOSE 2013

Senator Tom Carper (D-DE) and Futurist Daniel Burrus Highlight the Final Day

FOSE 2013

VIENNA, Va.--()--FOSE 2013 began its final day with a keynote presentation delivered by U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-DE), setting the tone for the day with a look ahead at building a 21st century government. Senator Carper was followed by futurist, technology strategist and trends forecaster, Daniel Burrus, who provided another futuristic outlook as he discussed how technology will enable the government to be more efficient. Burrus is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author for his book, Flash Foresight.

Complimentary education and live technology demos continued to crowd the exhibit hall with attendees. Agency Avenue gave attendees a look at agency information technology (IT) achievements and provided them with details to implement similar programs within their agency. Attendees took advantage of the last day to attend the NASA SEWP Workshop, instructed by Joanne Woytek, NASA Program Manager and Contract Technical Representative (CoTR) for the NASA SEWP Program. The workshop has been held each day of the conference and has educated attendees on SEWP contracts, product solutions and tools. Attendees received two CLPs for attending the two-hour seminar.

The Records and Information Management (RIM) Summit was also held today. The summit, featuring three education sessions, covered the basics of RIM and delved further into the complex details of the field including policies, requirements, challenges and the future of records retention. The RIM discussion continued in FOSE Central with a Tech Talk featuring how to execute RIM through change management.

“As we conclude FOSE 2013 we want attendees to take what they learned back to their agencies and share it with their peers and coworkers,” said Mike Eason, Vice President, Public Sector Events, 1105 Media, Inc. “We’ve heard a lot of positive feedback on this year’s event, as well as some suggestions for future topics and programs. We’re excited to incorporate this feedback into FOSE 2014.”
