SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Code Fellows, the only coding education provider that guarantees a $60,000 tech job after graduation, announced today that it has launched a Ruby on Rails bootcamp designed exclusively for women interested in breaking into the software industry. The female-only bootcamp is intended to address the widening gender gap in the coding trade by creating a unique learning environment that appeals to women who prefer to learn among other women.
The first female-only bootcamp is July 8th - August 23rd and is intended for women with a general knowledge of coding and engineering, but with no prior Ruby on Rails experience. Graduates that want a job in the software industry are guaranteed to be offered a position that pays at least $60,000 within six months of completing the programs.
“Walk into any development room in Seattle – or any other major tech center – and you’ll immediately notice that there’s a real disparity in the number of women coders compared to men coders,” said Will Little, Managing Director of Code Fellows. “By launching our all-female class, we’re looking to flip the equation and empower women to take up the coding trade. It’s a unique opportunity for women to get a foothold in the industry and to immediately build a network of fellow female coders.”
Over the last thirty years, the total number of women working in Computer Science has dropped precipitously. In 1987, 42 percent of software developers in the US were women, while today, that number hovers around 26 percent, according to the Department of Labor.
