Basil Papayoti Named President of GA Telesis Engine Services (“GATES”) in Helsinki, Finland

HELSINKI--()--The Board of Directors of GATES has appointed Basil Papayoti as its President. Mr. Papayoti is an industry veteran with 25 years of direct commercial airline maintenance experience. Starting his career as an Engine Scientist at McDonnell Douglas, he soon moved to Aviall Engine Services, where he held many operational program management positions. He later joined Allied Signal where he managed the ALF and CFE product lines. After he left the OEM ranks, he joined Delta TechOps as the General Manager of the Engine Shop operation which produces 700 engines annually. He later assumed the position of Director TechOps Sales and, subsequently, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Air Canada Technical Services. In 2007, Mr. Papayoti founded SkyView Consulting Partners which provides advisory services for MROs, OEMs, airlines, airline associations and financial institutions.

GA Telesis Engine Services Oy is a wholly owned subsidiary of GA Telesis, LLC. Operating from the facilities of the former Finnair Engine Services, GATES will provide comprehensive repair, overhaul, and modification services for the General Electric CF6-80C2 and CFM International CFM56-5B/C jet engine models as well as repair and modification services for Pratt & Whitney PW2000 engines. Collectively these engine models constitute the greatest number of single and twin-aisle jet engines in commercial airline operation.
