Univision Communications Launches Uforia Music Service Solidifying Market Position in Music Industry

New Multiplatform Music Service Includes Worldwide Premieres, New Artist Discovery & Content Curation with Latin Sensibility

NEW YORK--()--Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced the launch of the Uforia music service, the Company’s new audio strategy aligning music efforts under one umbrella and solidifying Univision’s position as Hispanic America’s home of audio entertainment, regardless of language or platform. As part of this strategy, the Company will also launch an upgraded music app focused on content curation with deep Latin genres. The announcement was made today by Jose Valle, president, Univision Radio and Evan Harrison, executive vice president of Content & Entertainment, Univision Radio.

“Univision Communications is committed to continuing our legacy of bringing the most cutting edge entertainment to Hispanic America,” said Valle. “By leveraging the size and scale of the Company’s media platforms, we provide an unparalleled promotional platform for established and emerging artists while transforming the digital music experience for our audiences.”

Following the successful multiplatform debuts of singles from other legendary artists including Vicente Fernandez, Carlos Vives, Juan Luis Guerra and Wisin y Yandel, Univision Radio will exclusively debut the radio premiere of Marc Anthony’s most anticipated new salsa single, “Vivir mi vida,” this Friday, April 26. The debut will be boosted by in-market strategic promotions across Univision’s social media properties as well as local and national digital extensions.

Additionally, UCI is helping to foster emerging talent by partnering with music industry labels to exclusively premiere songs from up-and-coming artists. The Company used this approach with the debut of then-newcomer Leslie Grace. Her chart-topping single, “Will U Still Love Me” premiered on Univision Radio stations across the country and her LIVE performances of the song were featured during Univision Network’s Premios Juventud and Univision Radio’s H2O Music Festival. Grace went on to become the youngest woman to top Latin Airplay charts.

“Univision Communications is the most comprehensive solution for artists looking to reach and engage Hispanic America,” said Harrison. “We know our audience’s listening preferences are evolving and have developed our new music service, Uforia, to meet their multiplatform lifestyle. Uforia will become Hispanic America’s #1 choice for audio entertainment.”

This summer, UCI will formally release the upgraded music app, under the name Uforia, focused on content curation with deep Latin genres. The upgraded app will feature exclusive channels, customizable stations housing more than 20 million songs and one of the most engaging social experiences on the market. It will also offer a friend-sourcing service where users will be able to not only see what their connections are listening to but also recommend music to them directly.
