WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Comcast increased its download and upload speeds to another group of Xfinity Internet customers. A little less than a month after Comcast doubled Internet speeds to its Extreme-50 and Blast! customers, it has now raised speeds for its popular “Performance” service from 15 to 25 Megabits per second. Upload speeds have also increased from 2 to 5Mbps.
These latest speed upgrades will benefit the growing wave of customers who are now using more than one mobile or wireless device in the home or are downloading larger files and streaming more video.
“We continue to increase our broadband speeds to deliver the best, fastest and most reliable Internet experience possible for our customers,” said Amy Smith, Comcast’s Regional Senior Vice President. “Whether chatting, surfing, streaming, gaming, skyping or downloading, families will get the superfast, high-performing Internet service they need, with no extra charge.”
Like any speed upgrade, Comcast is asking “Performance” customers to “power down” their Internet modems to upload the upgraded speeds. This is done by disconnecting the modem from a power source, waiting for 15 seconds and then plugging the equipment back in.
