Kaplan University School of Business Announces New Business Administration Degree Specialty Areas in Risk Management & Insurance, Real Estate and Wealth Management

DAVENPORT, Iowa--()--Kaplan University, a leader in higher education innovation, today announced that its School of Business has added three new specialty areas within the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program—risk management & insurance, real estate, and wealth management. Kaplan University seeks to prepare students to meet the demands of increasingly complex, diverse and global business environments.

“Kaplan’s School of Business has designed a practical and dynamic curriculum for students who are looking to excel in several business sectors projected to experience healthy growth: real estate, insurance and wealth management services,” says Tom Boyd, dean of the School of Business. “These specializations support the range of professional expertise needed in these areas, in keeping with the evolving market forces driving employment demands in these professions.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor, employment related to these specialty areas is expected to grow between 11 and 32 percent nationally by 2020. The following is a brief overview of these new offerings:

Risk Management & Insurance

The risk management & insurance program is structured to help Kaplan University students develop skills to use theories of risk to analyze and evaluate individual, family, auto, home, commercial and other property insurance plans and also learn techniques for treating loss exposures. Students will practice sales skills in addition to applying risk management and insurance principles to evaluate government and business systems. This program’s curriculum is designed to help students prepare for state agent/broker licensure exams.

Real Estate

Aspiring real estate agents and brokers now have access to online education in real estate with Kaplan University. This program is designed to encompass a thorough, ethical business and legal analysis of real estate transactions and financing. The program also offers information that will aid students interested in preparing for real estate agent/broker state licensure exams.

Wealth Management

Kaplan University students in the wealth management program are exposed to various theories and practical methods of personal financial planning used by wealth managers. Courses are designed to help students understand how to evaluate various methods of wealth management to maximize client and employer needs, including investments, insurance, asset allocation and financial planning strategies, and general financing. This program provides content that will assist students interested in pursuing Certified Financial Planner™ professional licensure.
