SHELTON, Conn. & RALEIGH, N.C.--()--3Gtms, a developer of a best-of-breed suite of transportation software products, today announced it has completed a merger with Transite Technology (www.transite.com), an award-winning developer of highly specialized transportation management systems (TMS). Retaining the 3Gtms name, the unified company will operate under the direction of 3Gtms CEO Mitch Weseley, whose experienced management team will help position the company and its solutions for rapid growth, focusing on mid-market companies.

3Gtms brings a team of executives onboard who are among the most accomplished and experienced people in the transportation software industry. This will ensure that the combined company will have the resources needed to innovate and build upon Transite’s existing software solutions to become the dominant TMS used by mid-market shippers, 3PLs and carriers. Transite’s product suite is the ideal platform to develop a very broad suite of transportation software, while 3Gtms’s initial suite includes a brokerage system, a standalone rating utility, LTL tariffs along with the core TMS. Many more modules will be added over the next few years.

Mitch Weseley, CEO of 3Gtms, said, “This is exciting news for Transite customers and for the transportation software market as a whole. We are doubling the size of the company, almost overnight, to meet the growing demand for our products and to drive improvement and innovation throughout the company. Our products and execution will be unmatched and our customers will be the most successful and satisfied in the industry.”

Mark Cammarata, CFO of Sunset Transportation, a long-standing Transite customer, said, “We are excited about this deal because the merger brings a unique vision of technology and proven industry execution. Transportation technology is crucial to our business and this union gives us confidence Sunset will remain ahead of the curve through our partnership with 3Gtms.”

The name, 3Gtms, signifies the third generation of transportation management systems. The first generation fulfilled domestic needs, which were primarily used to manage trucking, while the second addressed the complexities inherent in handling all freight, all functions, all geographies and all modes. 3Gtms will build a third-generation TMS to satisfy the needs of the small and middle markets that do not need the extreme complexity of features found in today’s TMS systems, but require a more user-friendly, streamlined TMS that is highly flexible and delivers a faster time to value.

Industry Veteran Leadership

With 30 years in the industry, Mitch Weseley foresaw the market demand for the first and second TMS generations, and both times created new companies and products to address these opportunities. In 1992, Weseley founded Weseley Software Development Corp. That TMS software company experienced rapid customer and revenue growth and was sold to McHugh Software International (later Red Prairie), a leading provider of warehouse management software, in 1996. In 1999, Weseley founded G-Log as a second-generation TMS and sold the company to Oracle in 2005. Both product groups continue to be used successfully today.
