GlassPoint Selected As 2013 Energy Innovation Pioneer by IHS CERA

CEO Rod MacGregor to discuss using solar for thermal Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) at CERAWeek 2013

CERAWeek 2013

FREMONT, Calif.--()--GlassPoint Solar, the global leader in solar enhanced oil recovery (EOR), today announced it has been selected as an Energy Innovation Pioneer by IHS CERA, one of the world’s leading energy research firms. Pioneers will be recognized at CERAWeek 2013, March 4-8 in Houston, TX, where GlassPoint CEO Rod MacGregor will present on the advantages of using solar steam generators to expand oil production in gas-constrained regions.

The Energy Innovation Pioneers program honors innovative and distinctive new technologies transforming the energy future. GlassPoint and its Enclosed Trough technology for solar EOR were chosen among a field of 250 candidates by IHS technical experts for its creativity, feasibility of plan, scalability of technology and leadership team. As part of the program, MacGregor will host a breakfast session on Tuesday and a formal presentation on Wednesday afternoon to discuss how low-cost, emissions-free solar steam can boost heavy oil production.

About GlassPoint:
GlassPoint is the leading provider of solar steam generators to the oil and gas industry. When used for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), GlassPoint solar steam generators reduce natural gas consumption by up to 80%, redirecting gas resources to higher value applications such as electricity generation and export. GlassPoint's solar EOR solution delivers steam at costs competitive with gas-fired steam generation, enabling producers to economically recover more oil. GlassPoint drives lower costs by enclosing lightweight components within a glasshouse to seal the system from sand, dust, dirt and high humidity typical of oilfield environments throughout the world. The company is headquartered in Fremont, California with offices in Bakersfield, California, Muscat, Oman and Shenzhen, China. For more information, visit glasspoint.com.
