What The Frozen What? Ben & Jerry's Celebrates ‘30 Rock’ Finale by Launching “Liz Lemon” Flavor
Greek Frozen Yogurt Finale Flavor to Benefit Jumpstart
The finale of NBC’s “30 Rock” will be more sweet than bitter as NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products Group and “30 Rock” join forces with iconic ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s to unveil the ice cream maker’s newest flavor entitled “Liz Lemon.” The concoction, a refreshing lemon Greek frozen yogurt with a blueberry lavender swirl, promises to be as sweet and tart as Liz Lemon herself. Liz Lemon, the flavor, will officially arrive in Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops around the country over the next few weeks. Together the lemon-y, blueberry-y flavor will raise awareness of and assist Jumpstart, a national early education organization that Tina Fey has supported.
“We are pleased to be working with Ben & Jerry’s once again and we know that the ’30 Rock’ fans will love the new Liz Lemon flavor while reminiscing about one of television’s most colorful characters,” said Kim Niemi, Senior Vice President, NBCUniversal Television Publicity.
Since October 11th, 2006, “30 Rock” has entertained America to the tune of a record 22 Emmy nominations. A 13-episode seventh and final season will officially wrap on January 31st with a special hour-long series finale. The opportunity was too good to turn up from Ben & Jerry’s end. “We are always looking for a fun way to serve up a Ben & Jerry’s flavor, and when the R&D team came up with a lemon-based Greek Frozen Yogurt there was only one name on the list,” said Jody Eley, the Marketing Manager who shepherded the flavor through its inception to becoming a reality. “We’ve found the perfect fit, and we’re so excited for the launch of Liz Lemon as a full time flavor homage to one of the most enduring characters on television,” added Eley.
Luckily, “30 Rock” fans won’t have long to wait. After launching in Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops nationally in February, Liz Lemon will be found on the shelves of grocery stores and convenience stores shortly thereafter. In syndication, and now in the freezer, it is certain that the legacy of Liz Lemon will live on.
