Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler Donates 100% of Proceeds of New Book to Special Olympics

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--()--World renowned eye surgeon Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler will be donating all the proceeds from his new book, How We Conquered Keratoconus, to the Special Olympics. Dr. Boxer Wachler is best known for inventing the Holcomb C3-R procedure to treat American bobsledder Steven Holcomb’s Keratoconus, which allowed him see his way to an Olympic gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Keratoconus is a progressive, non-inflammatory eye disease which can result in visual distortions and night vision problems from glare, halos, and multiple images. Keratoconus now affects 1 in 500 people.

How We Conquered Keratoconus is the story of a successful Beverly Hills eye surgeon who preserved the medal chances of an Olympian. The book additionally details first-hand experiences of those whose vision was saved by the Holcomb C3-R.

“The purpose of this book is to spread a message of hope and inspiration to those who whose lives have been uprooted by Keratoconus. Athletes competing in The Special Olympics have overcome similar challenges most of us cannot fathom, and it’s an honor to be able to support their cause and perseverance in the face of extreme adversity,” says Dr. Boxer Wachler.

Many doctors mistakenly still believe corneal transplant is the only option to treat Keratoconus. Through his book, Dr. Boxer Wachler hopes to create awareness of the options available to patients afflicted with this disorder while simultaneously supporting a cause he truly believes in.

How We Conquered Keratoconus is available on Amazon for less than $20. For more information, please visit www.KeratoconusInserts.com.
