Sumner M. Redstone Donates $100,000 to GO Campaign

LOS ANGELES--()--GO Campaign today announced that Sumner M. Redstone has donated $100,000 to help support local heroes who are giving opportunity to orphans and vulnerable children around the world. With this most recent gift, Mr. Redstone has donated a total of $350,000 to GO Campaign to help support children in need.

Mr. Redstone received a special gift at the annual GO GO Gala, held on November 14 in Beverly Hills, from Kick and Summer Kennedy, the grandchildren of Robert F. Kennedy, in recognition of the two schools built in Cambodia with his previous GO Campaign donations.

Additional celebrity GO GO Gala attendees and Hollywood elite included Mike White, Cheryl Hines, Julia Ormond, Cheryl Tiegs, Max Kennedy, John and Gela Taylor, Pam Skaist-Levy, Tony Horton, Cornelia Funke, Priscilla Woolworth, Robert Offer, David Weber, Ted Chervin, Nick Frenkel, Leslie Siebert, Daniel Rappaport, Mimi Gitlin, Jamie Lynton, Erica Huggins, Craig Gillespie, and Frederik Bond.

Mr. Redstone said, “I’ve had the great opportunity to see first-hand the direct and immediate impact of GO Campaign on children around the world, through its work with local leaders on the ground and investments in small, grassroots projects. I am proud to support GO Campaign as it continues to bring underprivileged children the opportunities they deserve – and I hope others will join me.”

GO Campaign’s upcoming projects include support for a center for Native American youth in New Mexico, renovating a home for 150 handicapped children in Kenya and building schools for indigenous communities in Mexico in partnership with the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights.

Mr. Redstone has devoted himself to a wide variety of civic and community affairs efforts, contributing over $140 million to worthy charities around the world over the last several years. He has donated $2.1 million to the Global Poverty Project towards eradicating polio and contributed $2.7 million to the Cambodian Children’s Fund to establish its child rescue center and provide education and care to impoverished children. Many of his major gifts have been focused on the funding of research and patient care advancements at FasterCures/The Center for Accelerating Medical Solutions, the Cedars-Sinai Prostate Cancer Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital; in addition to educational programs at the USC Keck School of Medicine, Boston University and Harvard University.
