SAN DIEGO--()--Sorenson Media today announced that it has won three 2012 Streaming Media Readers’ Choice Awards. The awards, which were presented during a ceremony at the Streaming Media West Conference in Los Angeles, highlight the company’s consistent recognition as one of the most respected players in the industry. This is also the second consecutive year the company has been named to the Streaming Media 100 – a list of 100 companies that matter most in online video in 2012.

Sorenson Media’s 2012 Streaming Media Readers’ Choice Awards include: Best Enterprise Encoding Software, for Squeeze Server; Best Cloud Encoding/Transcoding Service, for Squeeze Cloud; and Best Desktop Encoding Software, for Sorenson Squeeze. These awards reflect Sorenson Media’s dedication to continual innovation. Earlier this week, the company launched Squeeze Server 2.0, the fastest and easiest-to-use version of the company’s enterprise-grade encoding solution. In May 2012, Sorenson Media also introduced Sorenson Squeeze 8.5, the fastest and most versatile version of the industry’s gold-standard video encoding and transcoding software.

“This recognition by the readers of Streaming Media validates our ongoing commitment to providing the highest-quality online video products and services. In the end, it’s our customers’ opinion that matters most,” said Peter Csathy, CEO of Sorenson Media. “To be continually acknowledged as one of the top contenders in the industry by such a respected presence in online video as Streaming Media is a great honor. The fact that their readers agree and continually cast their votes for us is an honor we don’t take lightly.”

For the Streaming Media Readers' Choice Awards, more than 58,000 votes were submitted on almost 350 products, services, and companies in the online video space.

Sorenson Media has long been recognized for its innovation and ability to enable video professionals and enterprises to create the highest-quality video content, having first developed the technology that powered video in Apple QuickTime, Macromedia (now Adobe) Flash and YouTube. The company offers a full suite of video encoding, transcoding and publishing solutions, including the Sorenson Squeeze desktop application, the enterprise-grade Squeeze Server, which can be run on-premise, in the cloud or as a hybrid of both, and the Sorenson 360 online video platform.
