Ludia & BBC Worldwide Bring “The Weakest Link & Friends” to the App Store

MONTREAL--()--Interactive entertainment company Ludia Inc. and BBC Worldwide Digital Entertainment & Games today announced the launch of “The Weakest Link & Friends” App for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Based on the international TV game show phenomenon, players across the world can now experience the thrill of becoming the strongest link by challenging family, friends and the broader Weakest Link community.

“We are excited to welcome one of the best international TV franchises to Ludia’s increasingly diverse portfolio. ‘The Weakest Link & Friends’ consolidates Ludia’s leading position in the TV game show game industry,” said Alex Thabet, Founder and CEO of Ludia Inc. “Players will immediately be absorbed by the fast-paced style of the game, which is sure to spark many hours of fun.”

“The Weakest Link & Friends” begins by welcoming five contestants in the game show room where they each compete to become the strongest link by testing their general knowledge. Under a time limit of 45 electrifying seconds, the contestant is to provide as many correct answers in a row to maximize the score. Unless the player strategically “banks” money, an incorrect answer will break the chain and send the player’s earnings spiraling downward. The game consists of three rounds, after which the weakest link is eliminated. The final two contestants then battle in the ultimate “Head to Head” challenge, each vying for the coveted strongest link title.

Robert Nashak, EVP, BBC Worldwide Digital Entertainment & Games, said, “One of our main goals as we continue to bring BBC content to mobile platforms, is to create fun, engaging games for fans to enjoy beyond the original show. With ‘The Weakest Link & Friends,’ players can now answer and share clever trivia from the TV show with the touch of a finger.”

“The Weakest Link & Friends” features:

  • Favorite elements from the TV show, including thousands of questions, authentic theme music and the familiar chain board in dazzling HD
  • Built-in social features that enhance the game experience for all players
  • A challenge mode which allows a player to test all his or her friends. The highest scorer after 24 hours gets a “cash” bonus
