Sealed Air and China Cuisine Association Join Forces to Drive Hygiene and Safety Standards in China’s Food Service Industry

BEIJING--()--Sealed Air Corporation (NYSE: SEE) announced that it has established a strategic partnership with the China Cuisine Association (CCA), a leading industry co-operative in China, to advance hygiene and safety standards among food service outlets in China.

According to the partnership agreement, Sealed Air will support the CCA on establishing an institutionalized food service hygiene and safety program. As part of the program, the CCA will run a campaign entitled ‘The National Food Service Industry Hygiene and Safety Showcase Project’.

The key objectives of the program are to actively promote and enhance hygiene and safety standards among food service establishments. This is to help them deliver the best dining experience for their customers as well as strengthen their overall operational efficiency. Phase one of the campaign is to select 100 food service brands in China which will serve as role models for adopting the best hygiene and safety practices, followed by an active promotion of these practices to mid- and large-sized restaurants in the broader industry.

“Sealed Air’s commitment to long-term growth in China began well over a decade ago and we are well positioned today to capitalize on rapidly growing trends, including movement of food, people and products more frequently and over greater distances around the world,” said William V. Hickey, CEO of Sealed Air. “Partnering with the CCA is an opportunity for us to capitalize on one of those trends and to do more for the food service industry, not just to create business value, but also to enable social and environmental benefits.”

As CCA’s strategic partner in this important initiative, Sealed Air will provide the food hygiene and packaging expertise and solutions to help restaurants implement effective and sustainable practices at their premises. Sealed Air will assess the needs of the restaurants, design the relevant training programs and provide the necessary products and solutions from front- to back-of-house, ranging from facility and kitchen hygiene to food safety. As the only integrated supplier of cleaning chemicals, tools and equipment, as well as packaging solutions, Sealed Air will be able to deliver complete hygiene and safety solutions that are also sustainable in reducing food waste while optimizing labor, water and energy use.

“Throughout the 25 years of history of CCA, we are committed to help the food service industry of China reach world-class standards in terms of restaurant operation and management. We strive to do this by sharing global best practices with our members. Sealed Air’s expertise and insights will be invaluable in guiding our food service outlets on pursuing excellence,” Su Qiu-Cheng, Chairman of China Cuisine Association said.

Said Li Xin, Vice President, North Asia, Sealed Air, “As Chinese consumers find themselves with increasing disposable income and access to an improving retail environment, food processors and food service operators will continue to turn to Sealed Air packaging and hygiene solutions to offer convenience, extended shelf life and increased food safety and operational efficiency.”
