REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Silver Spring Networks, a leading networking platform and solutions provider for smart energy networks, today announced SilverLink cloud services, the energy industry’s first insight-as-a-service solution. Leveraging these unique smart grid operational services, customers will be able to quickly and easily access and integrate real-time performance analytics, monitoring, and alerts for their smart grid network and applications operations.
“Silver Spring led the industry to a world where IPv6 networks are the standard for connecting utilities to their customers. With more than 12 million homes and businesses connected, it's natural to now bring to the energy industry innovations that have delivered enormous value to other industries — cloud services. We are proud today to launch the industry's first insight-as-a-service solution, unlocking the economics, scale, speed and flexibility of the cloud to help customers improve their business operations,” said Scott Lang, Chairman, President and CEO of Silver Spring Networks. “With SilverLink cloud services our customers gain a new and unprecedented opportunity to leverage real-time operational insights to continually improve the performance and efficiency of their business.”
“To get the most from our smart grid deployment, we must deliver real-time operational information in front of many different internal organizations as quickly as possible,” said Michael Kuberski, Manager Enterprise Architecture at Pepco Holdings Inc. “This data is critical to helping us improve grid performance and reliability for our customers. SilverLink helps us accelerate that process and gain these insights more cost effectively. By offering this unique insight-as-a-service offering, Silver Spring has developed a solution to help manage our smart grid.”
Available to customers via subscription, SilverLink cloud services initially include:
- SilverLink Console: Delivers real-time application and field network monitoring, alerts, and performance data. These dashboards and reports provide insights into such metrics as meter read and export status, performance of remote service operations, and network infrastructure availability.
- SilverLink Operations Center: Delivers real-time operations data enabling customers to easily integrate Silver Spring alerts, configuration, and performance information into their existing event management systems. Real-time sending of traps, combined with on-demand data for network performance, enriches the effectiveness of systems such as ‘manager of managers.’
“SilverLink cloud services deliver targeted and specific data tailored to the needs of distinct teams within the utility, leading to greater operational insights, rapid problem identification and resolution, and improved efficiency and reliability,” said Don Reeves, Senior Vice President of Smart Grid Services and Operations, Silver Spring Networks. “The speed and specificity of SilverLink insights enable utilities to save time and money by liberating them from generic reporting systems and expensive custom integrations.”
These initial SilverLink cloud services are available today. Silver Spring has also begun development of additional SilverLink cloud services that will be available later in 2012. For more information please visit www.silverspringnet.com/silverlink.
