Finalists in 2012 Wine Blog Awards Announced

Public Voting for Award Winners in Nine Categories Runs Through July 26th

PORTLAND, Ore.--()--Finalists in the 2012 Wine Blog Awards, including the “Best Overall Wine Blog” and eight other categories, have been announced. The general public will now have the opportunity to vote in each of the nine categories to help determine which wine blogs are honored at the 2012 Wine Blog Awards at the Wine Bloggers Conference held in August in Portland, Oregon.

Public voting in each category is now underway at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WBA12. A list of the finalists can also be found at http://wineblogawards.org/2012-finalists/ A panel of 17 judges determined the finalists in each category. The winners will be determined by a vote of the public as well as input by the judges.

In the category of Best Overall Wine Blog, five finalists were named: 1WineDude, Jamie Goode’s Wine Blog, Terroirist, A Ridge Blog, and Jameson Fink.

“Since the first Wine Blog Awards were given out in 2007, the wine blogging community has expanded considerably and has become a consequential and important part of the wine media,” said Joel Vincent, organizer of the Wine Blog Awards along with Zephyr Adventures — organizers of the Wine Bloggers Conference. “This year’s crop of finalists is testament to the continually increasing quality of wine blogs, to the diversity of blogs and bloggers and to the recent emergence of new and important wine blogs.”

In addition to “Best Overall Wine Blog”, the public will be voting for winners in the following categories:

Best Single Subject Wine Blog
Best Winery Blog
Best Original Photography or Video
Best Business/Industry Blog
Best Wine Reviews on a Blog
Best Writing on a Wine Blog
Best New Wine Blog
Best Blog Post of the Year.

Public voting will run through 11:59pm on July 26th. Presentation of the 2012 Wine Blog Awards will occur at the Wine Bloggers Conference in Portland Oregon August 18th. Mutineer Magazine will sponsor the Awards presentation on Saturday night of the Conference.

“The goal of the Wine Blog Awards is to expose the world of wine blogging and wine bloggers to a larger audience and to encourage excellence in the wine blogging community by paying tribute to and honoring the best of the best,” added Vincent.
