NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Town Residential, the Manhattan-based real estate services firm, announced an event partnership with the Residential Sales Council Charity Task Force of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) for its Dramatic Read-In event for children on Tuesday, May 22nd. Town donated books for the inaugural year of the program, which was held at the New York City Housing Authority Rutgers Community Center.
“REBNY’s Residential Sales Council always has provided a fertile atmosphere for the germination of ideas to promote action within our industry as well as the neighborhoods we service,” said Kellee Buhler, senior vice president and associate broker at Town’s Astor Place office. “Our first-ever Dramatic Read-In for children is a prime example of the community enrichment programs that the Council’s Charity Task Force was established to carry out.”
Children in attendance were divided into age-specific groups and treated to dramatic readings by REBNY members from a list of suggested books provided by Town and Jumpstart International. Readers were also encouraged to use costumes and props to act out their literary characters.
“Fostering an early appreciation for reading is one of the most important things we can do for our youth,” said New York City Housing Authority Chairman John B. Rhea. “NYCHA is grateful to the Residential Sales Council Charity Task Force of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) for partnering with us in this initiative, our friends at Town Residential and Jumpstart and all the volunteers who have generously donated their time and talent.”
Following the reading, REBNY members assisted children in fashioning a mural to document the event. “REBNY’s Read-In initiative is a result of the Residential Sales Council wanting to give back to the community,” said Jeanne Oliver Taylor, vice president of broker services for REBNY. “The Council’s Charity Task Force has chosen the New York City Housing Authority Rutgers Community Center in the hopes that this will be part of a continued effort to reach out to the community. REBNY’s Residential Sales Council Charity Task Force is excited that Town Residential is donating the books for this event.”
The Dramatic Read-In took May 22nd at the New York City Housing Authority Rutgers Community Center on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
