MorphoTrak to Supply Colorado with a new State-wide Morpho Biometric Identification System

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--Morpho (Safran group), the leading provider of identification systems, is pleased to announce that its US subsidiary, MorphoTrak, was selected by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to provide MorphoBIS, its automated Biometric Identification System, for Colorado’s new state-wide system.

“MorphoBIS includes technological advances that will provide the best available accuracy and speed, enabling us to capture and search fingerprints and palm prints and assist Colorado law enforcement to link the offender to the crime,” stated Ronald Sloan, the Director of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

MorphoBIS is Morpho’s next generation biometric identification system and the fusion of the leading Morpho and Printrak* biometric identification technologies. Not only will CBI’s new system handle ten-prints and latent, including lights–out processing with unrivalled speed and accuracy, but also matching of palm prints, mobile two-finger searches, as well as the collection and storage of mugshots, scars, marks and tattoos. The system’s efficient processing of electronic biometric records will help CBI shift toward a fully paperless background check operation.

“We are very proud that CBI has renewed their 20-plus years of confidence in Morpho technology,” stated Daniel Vassy, President and CEO of MorphoTrak. “Resulting from the fusion of the best biometric technologies available and the constant innovation demanded by our customers, MorphoBIS will serve Colorado well into the future.”

As the supplier of the biometric identification systems in five neighboring states, MorphoTrak is in a unique position to offer and facilitate a future regional AFIS interoperability network where the states of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska could cross search each other in the future leading to more identifications and convictions.

Morpho’s biometric matching technology is ranked #1 for latent fingerprint accuracy by NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology) and is compliant with U.S. and international standards.

*Printrak: Printrak, Motorola’s biometric business, was acquired by Safran in 2009
